Title: PRP 47 - Feasibility Assessment of Irrigated Fibre-Bed Scrubbing Technology to Reduce PM2.5 Emissions from the Prill Tower

Licence Condition
The licensee must investigate the feasibility and compatibility of implementing Irrigated Fibre-bed Scrubbing (IFS) technology to reduce PM2.5 emissions from the Prill Tower at the premises. The investigation must include, but is not limited to the following: (a) A geotechnical and structural evaluation to assess the suitability of the land, and the likely impact caused on existing infrastructure by the installation of IFS; (b) A utility and services assessment to identify potential upgrade requirements to existing electricity, effluent and water infrastructure; (c) Consultation with IFS suppliers to assess the suitability of the technology to aid in the completion of a compatibility assessment; (d) Preliminary engineering including the development of key preliminary engineering drawings, including layouts and process flow diagrams; (e) An operational assessment to identify potential impacts on existing prill plant operating parameters and prill quality; (f) Estimated reductions in PM2.5 and PM10 at the Prill Tower that will be achieved by the IFS technology; and (g) An estimated cost and timeframe for implementing IFS. An interim report detailing the licensee's progress on the above investigation, including key milestones and decisions, must be prepared and provided to the EPA's Director - Hunter at PO Box 488G, Newcastle NSW 2300, or emailed to hunter.region@epa.nsw.gov.au, by 29 March 2019. A final report detailing the above feasibility and compatibility investigation and assessment must be prepared and provided to the EPA's Director - Hunter at PO Box 488G, Newcastle NSW 2300, or emailed to hunter.region@epa.nsw.gov.au, by 31 December 2019.
